The culture and temples in Mae Hong Son is different from other northern cities. Native people are Shan, and over 6 hill tribes mostly karens. They all live together in peace and in harmony. Culturally, they are more advance in peaceful way of life than the city people.
We can arrange for car rent to visit places in town and other districts is Baht 2000 to 1800 depends on the distance and the time of journey.

The forest rich province has precious teak forest.
It was one of the major exporting product in the past. Now logging is prohibited.

The drum is used as an enthusiastic rythm that skill drummer accompanied by around 5 cymbals playing with dancers

The bird dance is one of the fine arts of Shan people, The dance is performed with the amusing rythm of the longtail drum, and the cymbals.
The dancer must dance with the action that shows how the birds use their wings in harmony with the rythm of music. Usually there are two types of musical instruments the slowly playing one which the instruments are larger and the quicker one which the instuments are of smaller sizes.

Happiness and joy of the people. Mae Hong Son is a peaceful and happiness town. People are generous and has strong believe in Buddhism. No crime and no drugs in town even though it is one of the drug traffic route from Burma. The town is immuned from the narcotics since it is the global business and there is nothing to do with the common people here. You can never feel any narcotics and the associated crimes like the big cities.

The culture and the arts are part of the social activity that tied people together. The temple is the place that you can find fine arts and decorative things. This Gangsadal is normally used after the abbots prayed in the ceremony to let people far away the happiness like ringing the bell from the church. Only in Maehongson that this instrument is still used.

During the summer time (April) the boys will be ordained and stay in the temple to study about budhism for a few months. This is a good and clever means of laying ideological background for the boys. The practice is to live with minimal and non-selfish way of live. They eat only 2 meals per day, doing meditation and prey for the good things. Living together and sharing things in their community.
